Sunday Morning Message from May 1st, 2005

Due to technical complexities (Mat messed up the machine!), we didn't get a digital recording of May 1st's sermon. Sorry about that. Here's an .mp3 of the taped version for archival purposes.

Recap of Acts 21:37-40
1. Luke makes the point that Paul is no revolutionary in the ordinary sense of the word. He emphasizes the non-political nature of Christianity. The power of the gospel is the Word of God, not political power.
2. When Paul could have taken safety, instead he chose to address a hostile crowd. What could motivate him to do this:
-he was “Christ-possessed”
-the central issue of his life was sharing Christ
-he knew that God could save the “best” of men (those righteous in their own eyes)
-he knew that God could save the worst of men (those whose need was evident)
-he knew that without Christ only eternal torment awaited all people.
